There's a moment every fall in the Pittsburgh and Butler, Pennsylvania area when the light turns golden, the leaves go full crayon box, and suddenly everyone remembers they don't have a family photo from this year. If that's you, welcome. You're in good company!
I'm hosting fall mini sessions on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, right here in Butler County, Pennsylvania and I wanted to tell you a little about how they work, what to expect, and why I love this format so much.
So, what exactly is a mini session?
Think of it as a short and sweet photo session. You get 20 minutes at a beautiful location during the best light of the day.
20 minutes sounds quick, but it's plenty of time to settle in, laugh at something silly, and get a lovely variety of photos.
Who it's for: Families, couples, solo sessions, and high school seniors.
What a mini session looks like
You show up in outfits you feel good in, and I'll guide you from there. No experience in front of a camera? No problem. I'll give you easy direction on how to pose, direct you to get candid moments, and what to do with your hands (the eternal question).
We start with a quick warm-up. The first minute or two is just for settling in. I'll chat with you, check the light, and let everyone get comfortable. No pressure to be a natural right away.
Then we play. I'm a big believer that the best photos happen when you're not thinking about the camera. So we'll play games, spin the little ones around, and do whatever it takes to get real, genuine smiles. I'll get the toddler laughing in my general direction, and I promise I'm not above making silly noises.
We capture a nice variety. In 20 minutes we'll cover a mix of looks: a few classic "everyone look at the camera" shots for the holiday card, some closer snuggles, and plenty of candid, in-between moments. I'm a pro at capturing the in between: the laughs, the hugs, the sideways glances, and the moment right after someone says something ridiculous.
Wandering is welcome. If someone drifts off to inspect a pile of leaves, that's usually where the best photos happen. Let them explore. I'll follow.
Then you're done, and the pressure is off. Twenty minutes goes fast, and you'll walk away without the stress of a long session.
Afterward, you'll receive 10 edited digital images you can download and share. If you're the type who can't pick favorites (I see you), there's an optional full gallery upgrade for $100 that gives you every edited image from your session.

Fall does half the work for you. The light is softer and warmer, the backgrounds are already styled, and everyone looks a little more relaxed in a cozy sweater. Plus, if you're thinking about holiday cards or gifts, October is the perfect time to get ahead of the rush.

A few tips to make the most of your mini session
What should we wear?
Coordinate, don't match. Pick a color palette instead of identical outfits. Cozy neutrals, rust, mustard, deep green, and burgundy all photograph beautifully this time of year.
Layer up. Scarves, cardigans, and jackets add texture and keep everyone comfortable if it's chilly.
Wear shoes you can walk in. We may wander a bit to find the best spots.

Plan for the kiddos!
A snack beforehand and a rested little one go a long way. Bring their favorite toy or stuffy.

Don't stress about perfect.

The real moments (the giggles, the hugs, the mid-sentence laughs) are the ones you'll treasure most.

What if the weather is looking bad for the day of an outdoor shoot?
there will always be a backup date and plan discussed with you when the weather forecast is not cooperating a few days in advance.

If this sounds like your kind of afternoon, I'd love to photograph you. Spots are limited since it's just one day, and you can reserve yours here:
